Liquid Kicks Primer gives your paint the ultimate base! This primer chemically bonds to the surface and gives your paint the best surface to adhere to! LK Primer is clear but has a slight milky cast, so only apply it to the areas you want to color. It works with any paint you apply over it.

Preparation

Use a clean, lint-free microfiber cloth dampened with the Essential Deglazer to clean only the leather surface you intend to paint. Do not clean the surface excessively. You should feel the surface change from smooth to sticky as you clean it. Once the feeling changes, it has been cleaned sufficiently. Allow surface to rest for 10 to 20 minutes to allow solvents to escape. Do not force drying. Remove any dust or dirt with a clean, dry synthetic paintbrush.

Apply primer

LK Primer can be applied with a soft brush, but the best way to apply it is with an airbrush with a tip size between 0.2mm and 0.7mm with an air pressure between 25 psi and 35 psi. Spray Primer directly onto the surface from a distance of 3 to 5 inches with an airbrush, or 4 to 8 inches with a spray gun. Apply in even layers working from left to right and top to bottom, overlapping each previous line to create medium wet layers. Let the primer dry completely before moving on to the next coat. You can use a hairdryer to force it dry, but make sure you let the surface cool completely before continuing.

Processing time

Once the product is poured into an open-air container such as an airbrush cup or mixing cup, curing begins. A test showed that in a 236ml airbrush cup at 21 degrees Celsius the product was usable for 2 hours before performance was affected.

In a comparable test in a 500ml beaker, the product was usable for 6 hours. To extend shelf life, keep unused portions covered with a cap or lid. The shelf life of unopened bottles of LK Top Coat has been proven to be longer than 1 year under normal conditions.

Coverage

One 59ml bottle is suitable for more than 15 pairs of leather shoes or 1 large leather car seat. Coverage on canvas depends on canvas type and size.

Storage

Shop between 10 and 25 degrees Celsius and away from prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to prevent oxidation. Prolonged exposure to temperatures above 50 degrees Celsius and below 0 degrees Celsius may result in reduced product performance. Keep the lid closed when not in use to prevent it from drying out.

Tidy

Clean all tools immediately with water, acetone or the Essential Deglazer. Cleaning dried topcoats requires aggressive solvents such as MEK or volatile paint strippers. Remove all traces of the finisher from the airbrush or spray gun immediately after use to prevent the product from drying out in the airbrush and causing a blockage that is difficult to remove! Rinse until the cleaner no longer fogs up the top layer.
