Based on experience, we can approximately maintain the following standards.

Please note: this remains dependent on several factors such as underlay, type of leather, whether you do the pre-treatment properly and there are a few more.

 • A 29.5 ml jar is sufficient for a pair of sneakers.
 • A 29.5ml jar is sufficient for a car steering wheel
 • A 118ml jar is sufficient for a handbag.
 • A 118 ml jar is sufficient for a dining room chair.
 • For a small 2-seater sofa, 4 x 118 ml is sufficient.
 • Pre-treatment and finisher usually require half of the amount of paint used.
 • First of all, make sure the leather is clean and dry.
 • Moisten a microfiber cloth with the Leather Preparer & Deglazer
 • Rub gently in a rotating motion to remove factory finish, dirt and oil from the surface to be painted.
 • Remove excess residue with a clean microfiber cloth.
 • Allow the surface to be painted to dry for at least 30 minutes.

 1. Start by preparing the surface using the Leather preparer & deglazer in combination with the cotton pads.
 2. Once the surface is clean and dry, use masking tape to mark off the area you will be painting.

The customizing process

Customizing sneakers consists of several steps. Each step is as important as the next and we recommend that you read everything carefully.

 • Suede and nubuck do not need to be prepared with acetone or the Leather preparer & deglazer. This is also not recommended.
 • Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of dust.
 • Both can be used to prepare leather. However, acetone has stronger chemicals that can damage the leather. Leather preparer & deglazer is a safer alternative that does not damage the leather.
 • Always handle both products with care!

Paint thin layers until you see an even and opaque result. Repeat this until you have achieved the desired result.

Wait between 10 and 15 minutes before applying another coat.

We can always provide advice, but you must make the final decision yourself.

The colors shown on the site were photographed in a studio with lighting. The surface and the thickness in which you apply it also play a role. The colors may also differ slightly due to the batch from the production process. Unfortunately, we have little control over this.

Therefore, always try it out first in an invisible place.

Yes! Angelus leather paint is formulated to be easy to mix. You are in control to create more than thousands of color combinations.

To avoid brush strokes, use a clean, high-quality brush.

Then apply the paint in long thin strokes to spread it evenly over the surface.

It is best to make Angelus leather paint thinner with Angelus 2-thin. Depending on how thin you want it, add Angelus 2-thin.

Preparation is half the battle. Make sure you clean and prepare the surface thoroughly before you start. This often results in cracking.

To make the leather paint duller you need to add Angelus Duller to the paint. It is recommended to use between 5 to 10% Duller in proportion to the amount of paint. That's all it takes

To have a glossy effect, use the Angelus High Gloss finisher . Apply the finisher in thin even layers after the paint is completely dry.

To protect the surface, it is recommended to apply a finisher after you have finished painting. Apply the finisher evenly in thin layers. Click here for all the finishers we offer .
We offer several types of finishers and the difference is mainly in gloss: matte, satin, normal and high glossAngelus Finisher Variants

Make sure to shake the bottle well before use each time. If you don't do that, you won't get the correct composition of paint and the duller that comes as standard.

Which can! Use the Angelus Duller for this. You don't need much, only 5%.

Yes! The more layers added, the more layers of protection there are.

The 4-coat finishers are even better at preventing scratches.

All finishers dry transparent.

Make sure the surface is completely dry and ready for post-treatment before applying the finisher.

If it still feels sticky, apply a little shoe polish or lotion to the surface and massage it in.

Angelus leather paint is composed in such a way that it is extremely flexible and does not crack. If the surface is properly prepared, you can also apply the leather paint to surfaces such as vinyl, patent leather and textiles.

This is possible. However, you do need to dilute it with Angelus 2-thin.

The recommended ratio of course depends on the thickness you want to maintain in the paint, but it is usually 1:1, 1:4 (2-thin : paint).

This is possible. The finishers are thin enough to go directly through an airbrush. So you don't have to add anything to that.

Although airbrushing may seem like the best choice for many, painting with a brush is a better option in many circumstances. Consider painting small surfaces and detail work. Of course you have to make the choice yourself.

The penetrating paint penetrates the surface, causing it to blend with the color of the surface. So if you paint something white with red, it becomes pink.

The leather paint, on the other hand, sits on the surface and grips. You can cover everything with paint.

The Angelus leather paint is water-based, while the Angelus penetrating paint is alcohol-based.

If you use the Angelus suede penetrating paint on leather, it may not be strong enough or full enough with pigment to match the leather.

Black suede can sometimes cause problems:

 • If you apply too much penetrating paint, it can cause an iridescent look.
 • If you do not shake the bottle, the penetrating paint will not be mixed properly and will leave a tint behind.
 • If the black surface you want to edit is not real suede.

To avoid ruining black suede, wipe the surface with a cloth dampened with water and alcohol.

No. You can only do that with chlorine or something similar. Unfortunately, penetrating paint will not work.

No. Angelus does not have white suede penetration paint. If you want to whiten suede, you usually use chlorine.

Yes, you can mix colors to make other colors, but that can have negative consequences. A normal color mixing such as with leather paint can be very strange with penetration paint.

You will receive a wool ball with each pot of penetrating paint. However, we prefer to apply it with a brush, so you can work more accurately.

Suede Dye

After applying the penetrating paint with a brush, the brush can no longer be used for other purposes.

To prevent the surface painted with Angelus penetration paint from bleeding, you can polish the surface after it has dried. Then use one of our protective agents such as Crep Protect or Liquiproof to completely seal it in.
